Saga of the Sea Witch page 5a, wherein she gets her cabin photographed
All these photos blow up larger.
Lynn Pardy came aboard during one of the Wooden Boat Festivals. Lynn and Larry are true world travellers and have sailed more miles than anyone we know. It was an honor to have her photograph the boat and it's interesting additions that make cruising so fun.
We found this old kerocene stove up in Sydney Canada and Larry rebuilt it to burn propane. It's such a dated-looking stove that it really fits Sea Witch. We tiled the back a kellly green.
Later, we reverted to the Little Cod wood stove. There's just nothing like the warmth of a woodstove, and it works great. Cooking is now on a one-burner butane stove we stow when we're not cooking.
She still has cold water from a pump, like when she was built. A deep sink, a teapot of hot water, and you've got 'doing dishes.' Later, we upgraded the pump to one that works better, but it's just no the same as that old 1939 bronze pump.
A cut down oak toilet seat from the hardware store makes for a tight fit, but it works great. The trick here is to drop your drawers and back into the head. The cane access door leads to the two batteries. We also added a holding tank to be legal.
High varnish and fresh paint makes for an inviting cabin. We also now have new glass in all the portholes that also help to brighten it up.
